PIA DG Fabia to address information officers assembly
Iloilo City (1 December) -- Philippine Information Agency Director General Lawyer Jose Fabia will be the guest of honor today (December 1) during the Year-end Regional Conference of Public Information Officers in Iloilo City.
The administration has recently appointed Fabia in his present position who immediately instituted policy directions for PIA to make its functions more relevant in realizing the foremost goal of President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III which is putting the welfare of the people first under a transparent government.
He has also directed PIA employees to take a critical participation during times of calamities and disasters as well as in the aspects of its mitigation both in the national and local levels.
Fabia will be with the PIA's Deputy Director General Virgilio Galvez.
The top officials will be awarding the region's Best Performing Information Officers that will be chosen from the different province of Region VI.
Those who qualified for the recognition will be announced during the day.
The awarding of Best Performing Information Officers is an activity that PIA undertakes in order to highlight the important role of IOs and appreciate their accomplishments.
"The PIA awards the Best Performing Information Officers for their extraordinary accomplishments and contribution to government information work in their respective agencies bearing implication to national thrusts in general," PIA Regional Director Lawyer Janet Mesa, said.
The agency also recognizes that IOs' work is a vital element in development and governance so that their performance in information, education and communication work, including media relations and advocacy are valuable inputs that ensure the people are aware of what is happening in their area.
