Differently-abled Ilonggas get livelihood fund from DOLE
Iloilo City (9 December) -- Some 20 women members of the Association of Disabled Persons in Iloilo received a livelihood fund from the Department of Labor and Employment for their Skills training on Cosmetology.
DOLE 6 Regional Director Manuel Roldan gave the check worth P127, 750 to ADP-I President Juvy Ministros during a simple rite as part of the 77th anniversary celebration of DOLE in the region, December 8, 2010.
Ministros said the funding assistance will be used for the training and purchase of kits of their women member beneficiaries.
"This support and assistance will be a great help to our members since this will be a source of livelihood for them", said Ministros.
The check is part of the P1,439,936.00 released by DOLE during the ceremony. Other recipients of the livelihood fund assistance are the municipality of Bingawan with P258, 450.00 for its Organic Fertilizer Production benefiting 60 individuals; Guimaras Province with P469,896 for its Starter KITS benefiting 63 individuals; and Carles MPC with P447,940.00 for its Nata de Coco Processing benefiting 50 individuals.
The Panay Sugarcane Producers MPC also received P135,900.00 for its Skills training on Cosmetology with 20 beneficiaries.
Roldan said the fund assistance is part of the continuing effort of DOLE to give livelihood opportunities that intend to help increase productivity and improve the lives of the people. This is also in pursuit of the full implementation of President Benigno Aquino's 22-Point Policy on labor and employment.
The St. Paul's Hospital was also recognized during the ceremony as Family Welfare Program Awardee in the region. It will represent the region in the national search with the awarding set on December 10 in Manila. (PIA/LAFrench)
