PIA-6, SMART blog site winners cited
Iloilo (8 December) -- The Philippine Information Agency 6 and the SMART Communications cited three high school and three campus publications from Negros and four from Iloilo as campus blog site winners in the 2010 College Press Conference and Awards 2010.
Monica Tejada, SMART Research Consultant, said on top of the list of winners for high school publications is the Ang Aninag of the Negros Occidental High School, followed by the Clarion of Bacolod Tay Tung High School and The City Light of the Bacolod City National High School.
Besting the eight other finalists for college publications is the The Lead of the University of St. La Salle-Mass Communications Department, followed by The Lifeline of the West Visayas State University College of Nursing, and the Central Echo, of Central Philippine University.
The other finalists garnering consolation prizes were the Philippine Artisan of the Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas, The Augustinian Publications, University of San Agustin-Iloilo, The Technopacer of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, and the The Techno Forum, Southern Iloilo Polytechnic College-Miag-ao, Iloilo.
The winners were given cash prizes and trophies of P12,000, P7,000, P5,000 for the first three and P2,000 for the runners up.
Special awards were also given to Best Blog Writer for High School which went to Pia Villahermosa of Ang Aninag and, likewise, the Best Photographer award.
Best Blog writer for college publications went to Roma Gonzales of the Lifeline, while the Best Photographer was Aeson Baldevia of The Lead.
PIA Director Atty. Janet C. Mesa said the Campus Blog Contest is a joint initiative of PIA 6 and SMART Communications, Inc. to enhance the capabilities of campus publications in the region to use the social networks in their developmental advocacies. (PIA6/ESS)
