OCD's Duque swears in Cabrera, 4 RDs as new RDRRMC officers
Iloilo City (3 December) -- Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Assistant Executive Director lawyer Priscilla Duque swore into office the new officers of the Regional Disater Risk Reduction and Management Council of Western Visayas with OCD Regional Director Rosario Cabrera as Chairperson.
To steer the council with Cabrera are four Vice Chairpersons, namely DILG Regional Director Evelyn Trompeta for Disaster Preparedness, DSWD Regional Director Minda Brigoli for Disaster Response, DOST Regional Director Engr. Rowen Gelonga for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and NEDA Regional Director Ro-Ann Bacal for Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery.
The swearing-in took place during the first meeting and induction of officers of the Western Visayan council that was organized along with other regional bodies in the country by virtue of Republic Act No. 10121 that created the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in lieu of the National Disaster Coordinating Council.
Duque, who is also the Chief of the OCD Training Division, conveyed to the officers of the RDRRMC the congratulatory message of OCD Administrator and NDRRMC Executive Director Undersecretary Benito Ramos.
Ramos is presently in Seoul as a member of the Philippine Rapid Response Team that was deployed by President Benigno S. Aquino III to assess the country's contingency plan for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in South Korea amidst the tension in the Korean Peninsula.
The RDRRMC presented to Duque a copy of the Western Visayas Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Manual during the meeting and induction, which was attended by members of the regional council and members of the media.
Duque commended Western Visayas for being the first regional disaster management council to come up with the said operations manual as well as for holding the first induction of officers.
She said the national disaster council will use the operations manual of Region 6 as a template for other areas in the country. (PIA 6)
